Saul David was born in 1966 and studied History at Edinburgh and Glasgow universities, receiving his doctorate in 2001.
He is the author of several critically-acclaimed history books, including The Indian Mutiny: 1857 (shortlisted for the Westminster Medal for Military Literature) and most recently Zulu: the Heroism and Tragedy of the Zulu War of 1879 (a Waterstone’s Military History Book of the Year).
Saul has presented and appeared in history programmes for most of the major channels, including BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Five. He presents Sky One's new eight-part genealogy series, Royal Roots, to be screened in September 2006.
He reviews and writes articles for many national publications.
