Handsworth Conversations has been produced for Channel 4 by Institute for Eyes

It was Vanley Burke's photography that lead us to Handsworth. Vanley's images portrayed an evolving community, which we thought was a good allegory for immigration movements across the whole country.
The idea behind Handsworth Conversations was to capture the spirit within these images and reveal their hidden stories.
We wanted to create naturalistic films, that immersed the viewer inside the community, rather than invading the lives of its subjects.
