| Mecca once again experienced traffic gridlock |
The Hajj wound down today with most pilgrims completing their final ritual, stoning the three Jamarat pillars again. All that remained was to pack up and head towards Mecca, which they had to reach before sunset.
Not surprisingly with everyone heading for the same place at the same time the roads were soon in gridlock and many chose to walk the seven miles to Mecca.
Many left straightaway keen to visit the Prophet's Mosque at Medina or hasten home. Their trip of a lifetime was near the end but many would say their spiritual journey is just beginning.
