On Channel 4 Live at the Hajj

Mohammed
Mohammed readies to leave
Our six pilgrims - Aamer, Hallalah, Kosser, Serfraz and Mohammed - have headed home. If you would like to relive Hajj - The Greatest Trip on Earth don't miss the special omnibus on Saturday night at 7.30pm on Channel 4.

In the final programme we saw our pilgrims heading back to Mecca on Day 5 after completing everything they needed to do to officially call themselves hajjis.

They had stood and faced Allah at Arafat, collected their pebbles from the desert, stoned the Devil, circumnavigated the Ka'aba, offered up a sacrifice, cut their hair and prayed for their journey to be accepted.

Like so many before them our pilgrims feel they have changed irrevocably in the Saudi desert. The 1400-year-old rituals have made them feel closer to Allah.

Aamer says he now feels like he is closer to Allah and said he could feel his father near him during Hajj.

Serfraz Qayyum
Sefraz: amazed by Hajj
Serfraz said he found Hajj beautiful and asked, "is there any other event in life where everybody from every nation comes together as one?"

"It's like one heartbeat, one pulse and we all pray in the one direction."

Kosser said all her life she had a picture of Mecca and the Ka'aba in her head and that now she has seen it she will never be able to forget.

"It is a memory cherish it for the rest of my life."

Mohammed says Hajj is a major boost to faith which can go up and down depending on how much good and evil you are exposed to.

Hallalah said her focus is different and she has a clearer vision of what she should be doing in life.

"Hajj is an investment in your soul."

Back in Mecca three million people pray together for the last time, the Hajj is over and our pilgrims' lives will never be the same again.
