Trailervision works on the principle that all those
film trailers you fast-forward through on the Blockbuster
video rental you argued over for 20 minutes are usually
better than the movie itself. So instead, open your
bottle of wine and settle back with www.trailervision.com
spoof trailers of movies which should but don't
exist. Titles such as Harry Potter, Hidden Dragon; Charlton's
Angels; and Mission Possible 3 show the small degree
of topical references but mostly these one-minute trailers
satirise the style, self-importance and smugness of
Hollywood itself.
New items are added every week. Conveniently these
can be viewed in a stunning choice of formats (well,
three) MPEG, QuickTime and Windows Media Player
and its flippin' well free!
Starting out as a TV special in Canada in 1999, the
online version now includes collaborations with talents
from around the world. It quickly became an Internet
cult and now feeds back into TV Channel 5 bought
an initial 10 trailers last year. And like all the best
comedy on the net, it's a short and simple, well-executed
idea and updated regularly which means you want to come
back for more.
And any site which includes a trailer for 'Hobbitt
in the City' about 'the adventures of an urban Hobbitt
who chances on the ring of power that gives its bearer
the power to seduce beyond his wildest imaginings' has
just GOT to be worth a minute of your time.
