Guru Nanak's Birthday

The Sikhs commemorate the birth of the founder of their religion, Guru Nanak, with three days of processions, music and long prayer sessions in the Gurdwaras, the Sikh temples.

The Sikh holy book, the Granth Sahib, is read from beginning to end and sometimes a poetic symposium is held, to enable poets to pay tribute to the Guru in their own words.Sweets and food are distributed from the communal kitchen of the Gurdwara.

At about 1.20 in the morning, the actual time of the birth of Guru Nanak, the congregation sings his praises and recites the Sikh scriptures.

May Guru Nanak inspire you to achieve all your goals and fulfil all your dreams!
