As expected, Conservative candidates kept control of parliament after some 40% of those who had applied to stand were disqualified by Iran's Guardian Council – an unelected body of clerics and jurists which vets election candidates. Meanwhile, people campaigning to end to legalised discrimination against women in Iran, continue to face harassment and arrest.
