Free Basin (2000), a construction in plywood, concrete and steel, is a site-specific installation shown at various venues by artists' collective, SIMPARCH. It is a fully functioning wooden bowl, built for skateboarding. The form of the bowl took inspiration from backyard swimming pools that skateboarders began using in the 1970s. It can be seen both as a large sculpture as well as a forum for the expressive movement of the skateboarders (courtesy SIMPARCH)
