Rolling Bridge by Thomas Heatherwick is a circular sculpture at Paddington Basin, London, which uses hydraulic rams to uncurl into a 12-metre (40ft) long pedestrian bridge. The bridge opens a set number of times each week and won a Structural Steel Design Award when it was installed in 2004 (courtesy Thomas Heatherwick / photo: © Len Grant)
