Paul Day: Battle of Britain Memorial

Paul Day's Battle of Britain Memorial, a bronze monument to the achievements of RAF Fighter Command and the people of London during World War II, is on Victoria Embankment, London. Unveiled in September 2005 by Prince Charles, it was commissioned by the Battle of Britain Historical Society and funded by public subscription. The two friezes are accompanied by a plaque inscribed with the names of the 2,936 pilots and ground crew from Britain and 14 other countries (courtesy Cass Sculpture Foundation and the artist/www.sculpture.org.uk) |
