Nnenna's work is inspired by the sights, sounds and architecture of her native Nigeria. She uses traditional craft techniques such as sewing and weaving, combined with simple materials like clay and twine, to produce her delicate cloth like wall hangings. She is also influenced by the recycling of discarded objects and uses newspapers twisted together to create ropes, which are then transformed into her delicate sculptures.
Nnenna graduated in 1999 with a First Class Degree in Painting from the University of Nigeria and graduated from the MFA sculpture program at the University of Iowa in 2005. Since then she has gone on to show extensively worldwide. She currently lives in Chicago where she is working as Assistant Professor at North Park University, Chicago, Illinois
