Amarachi Okaforhas been nominated by El Anatsui as an emerging artist whose work may be complimentary to the Channel 4 collection. Her work will be on display in the Channel 4 Headquarters from May 2008.

In Amarachis native Igbo culture the bag symbolizes the mind in which we carry our thoughts, and this, along with a keen interest in fashion, is what inspires Amarachi’s work. She uses recycled and found materials and through her sewing, seeks to recreate them as new objects.
Once transformed into new bags or fabrics these objects are hung from washing lines or trees where their new role is to criticize consumerism and its associated waste.
