Jeff Mermelstein is one of Americas leading documentary street photographers, whose work regularly appears in major publications including Life Magazine, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine. His unique style is centered on his interest in the odd and eccentric inhabitants of New York City and since the 80s Mermelstein has restlessly prowled its streets hoping to capture his subjects as they go about their daily business. His images are unposed and his subjects unaware of his intention which, together with his unique eye, allow him to portray his fellow New Yorkers with spontaneity and affection.
