About the programme
The documentary coincides with the opening of the first major London showing of Antony Gormley's work – at the Hayward Gallery in May '07. |
Acclaimed filmmaker and close friend of Gormley's, Beeban Kidron, produces an intimate portrayal of the sculptor. This one-off Channel 4 documentary, follows the artist as he sets about making three new major sculptures for his forthcoming exhibition. Both filmmaker and artist discuss the forces that compel Gormley to make ever more monumental and ambitious work. Together they explore how Gormley produces his art, from casting the moulds of his own body to working with the makers and the foundries, to the eventual installation in the gallery. |
Director Beeban Kidron's extensive directorial work includes 'Oranges are Not the Only Fruit', 'Hookers, Hustlers, Pimps and their Johns' and 'Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason'.
