Seeking new talent
Commissioning editor Kate Vogel writesI'm constantly on the prowl on FourDocs for bright new filmmakers. Dave Young (Prod) battled through the mud at Glastonbury where he filmed for a week of 3MWs – superficially the films are about big English summer events: Wimbledon, Glyndebourne etc ... but they also dig really deeply and neatly into the class system.
Bronwen Parker Rhodes is busy investigating the phenomenon of Larping and Alternative Reality Gaming.
And I hope some of you caught Tomas Leach's (The Glasseye Maker) beautiful three minute gems about an environment called I Am Amazon.
And I also showed Smoking: Day Zero as part of a No Smoking week (July 2007). It's simply beautifully lit, with a wonderful character at the heart of it, very direct and powerful.
I'm totally passionate about short form and am constantly amazed by the ingenuity and creativeness found in the film-making on FourDocs.
