E4 aims to do high quality, distinctive, exciting and edgy programming aimed at 16-34s- mainly focusing on entertainment. The ability to work across different platforms, interactivity and the breaking of both new ideas and new talent are important in our commissions. We are specifically looking for the following:

Weekdays 2pm-6pm

During this time we play a mix of acquired programming such as The O.C, Smallville, Friends, ER, Without a Trace, and also Live streaming of cross platform Big Brother/ The Games.

Programmes here have a fairly broad appeal and generally are stripped across the week to build consistent viewing. Limited opportunity for any core commissions.

Weekdays 6pm-9pm

This area of the schedule tends to be a mixture of acquisitions/ C4 Narrative repeats and cross platform streaming hence limited opportunity for any core commission. We are premiering the next episode of Hollyoaks at 7pm and would be looking for either a half hour acquisition or commission to follow leading into our Friends double bills at 8pm.

Target Price £40-50k

Weekdays 9-10pm

This is the E4 Shop window and plays host to major US Acquisitions and E4 Originations.

This area of the schedule is stapled by the 9pm Drama strategy. It mainly consists of premiers of new acquisitions such as The O.C, Smallville, One Tree Hill & Scrubs etc and the spin-off drama of Hollyoaks Let Loose. We are interested in new and fresh UK originated Drama e.g. Hollyoaks Let Loose

Target Price £150-400k per hour.

Weekdays 10pm-11pm

This area of the schedule mainly consists of US acquisitions (Six Feet Under, Simple Life), C4 repeats (Wife Swap) and E4 originations (Evil Hypnotist).

We are interested in seeing ideas for big entertainment shows and spin-off shows, (30 min shows, 6-8 episodes) which will work in a 10pm slot. Shows commissioned for this slot should play a major part in defining the channel and embodying all the key E4 values such as risk taking, breaking new on screen talent, introducing new innovative formats. Target Price £70-100k per half-hour.

We are also looking for new and fresh UK originated Drama e.g. Sugar Rush. Target Price £150-400k per hour.

Weekdays 10pm-11pm

In this slot E4 has got its first look strategy for the majority of the year showing the next episode immediately after Channel 4, programmes include Shameless, No Angels, Desperate Housewives etc. However we will also play C4 comedy repeats such as Meet the Magoons and E4 originations e.g. Prank TV and Bamboozle, so there is some opportunity for commissions and we are interested in entertainment shows and spin-offs (as above), again target price is £70-100k per half-hour (30 min shows, 6-8 episodes).

Weekends

There aren't regular slots for which shows are commissioned specially at the weekends. Nevertheless opportunities do exist for event or stunt ideas that might tie in with other programmes on the channel or with events that fit with the E4 brand.

Spinoffs from C4 Shows

We are particularly keen to commission shows which link in with core shows on the main channel. We get the benefit of an established C4 brand and it is easier to bring audiences to these shows. When pitching shows to C4 it is worth thinking if there are potential spin off elements which could work well on E4.

Examples include Wife Swap - The Fall Out, Brat Camp Xtra, Evil Hypnotist, Prank TV, Big rother's Big Mouth, The Games - Trackside.
