We do want entertaining shows about real people, real journeys with a real point, but we don't want entertainment formats. Being entertaining at 20:00 is not enough; programmes need to have real content and be informative. Purely observational formats are difficult to make work in this slot - but documentary content with some intervention (such as Property Ladder) is interesting. Straight docu-soap isn't right for us, but docu-soap + business / food / the good life etc is still interesting for Thursday, as are character-led series.

Proposals
In the first instance, you should sell your idea to us in three to four paragraphs via the online proposal system. Taster tapes for talent-led ideas are a good way of pitching to us, as are tapes that demonstrate/walk through an idea.
