- Please submit your idea to Channel 4’s online proposal submission system. Please include the name of the commissioner at Channel 4 you’ve been speaking to about your TV idea (and whether it has been commissioned already) if relevant
- Your idea will be reviewed by the New Media Commissioning Manager, who will assess and review your idea with the Cross-Platform Commissioning Team, with a view to:
- Passing the idea to the relevant Cross-Platform Commissioner to liaise directly with you to further explore the idea (as well as being Head of Cross Platform Commissioning, Louise Brown also covers Drama, Entertainment and Comedy)
- Rejecting the idea for Cross-Platform Commissioning but discussing what additional content is available from the TV production for the programme support website on channel4.com, Food, Homes and e4.com and handing the programme to the managers/editors of these sites
- The Cross-Platform Commissioner will discuss the project with the programme Commissioning Editor
- The initial project will be approved or rejected by the Head of Cross Platform Commissioning (who may look for alternative sources of funding including 4iP, advertising funded, sponsorship)
- The Cross Platform Commissioner will work up detailed proposal including suppliers, costs, timings, editorial spec
- This will then go to an online planning meeting attended by the Director of Television and Content, where the project will be approved or rejected.
If you already have a television programme commissioned and your project is rejected as a Cross Platform commission, please be aware that Channel 4 will instead create a programme support site on channel4.com, e4.com, or on Channel 4's Food or Homes websites, and therefore your commissioned TV programme will have an online presence.
If you don’t have a television commission and your proposal is rejected by the Cross Platform team, the Education and 4iP teams remain options open to you. However, please be aware that your proposal must fit in with their individual criteria. Please visit 4iP or Education for more information.
