My aim is to ensure that Channel 4 commissioning communicates its editorial requirements/priorities regularly and effectively to the Independent Production community. We do this through:

Departmental briefings

Our annual PACT events throughout the country

Regional briefing events

I also act as a point of contact for Indies – new or otherwise – who are keen to develop a relationship with the Channel, and am particularly interested in meeting new companies that really think their ideas would add to the mix of programmes on Channel 4.

I introduced the electronic proposal submission system in 2004 , the online editorial specification system this year and I am responsible for improvements to the commissioning process. I'm always interested to hear any feedback that Indies have about working with Channel 4, and regularly carry out feedback exercises to find out how the Channel could improve its working practices.
