Q: How do you like to receive ideas?
A: Via the online proposal system. If we think that the idea is right for Channel 4 then we'd then set up a meeting to discuss it.

Q: How detailed should the initial pitch should be?
A: A page or two is ideal in the first instance. If we decide to take the idea further then we may ask for some more detail but initially keep it short, funny and interesting.

Q: Will you take ideas from individuals?
A: Er ... yes and no. Obviously, it depends on the idea and on the individual. Be realistic, if you are someone who doesn't have relevant television production experience, then you are going to need to work with people who have in order to realise your idea. If you have an idea for a big expensive/complicated series then, of course, we are going to suggest you work with a company experienced in making those sorts of shows. In general, we will take ideas from individuals but we will often want to partner individuals with companies who will help them actually make their idea.

Q: How much do you have to spend?
A: Obviously this depends on the idea. For a big 10pm Friday night show we would pay between 150k and 275k an hour. As you would expect later at night we would have less money to spend and for shows going out at 11pm for example you would be looking at 150k an hour. However these tariffs are not written in stone and if there were particular costs associated with an on screen presenter, or indeed savings due to a large number of episodes, the price would reflect this.
