Chat Ed : Good evening everyone and thanks for coming to our live webchat with Penny and Kristian Blyth who were in tonight’s episode of Wife Swap! Penny Blyth runs two beauty salons and for her, life is all about image. She doesn't do menial jobs such as cooking or cleaning and her non-stop life style leaves little time to spend with her son Harvey. She swapped with Penny Roberts who is far too busy to worry about appearance, with 5 cats, 3 kids, a husband, dog, rabbit and a goldfish to look after and who strongly believes a mother's role is to stay at home with the kids. What happened when they Wife Swapped?

Penny : The problem was that it was edited - she actually said 'Your son would be better off if you were dead' to me! My only regret is that I didn't dive over the table in time to get to her!
Sares : penny you look much better with out all the make up - some is good but not all!!
gonker : did you not think you looked better without the makeup on
Penny : I was relieved that I didn't look too much like a man without the make up on... I'll definitely wear less in future.
dawn : don’t mean to be rude but ur not thin did u have to call her family fat
Penny : Dawn - it was very edited - I was really calling her sister fat more than anything because she's got a big hang-up about it and we argued more than was shown on the programme tonight.
sara n : i was just wondering if u really thought it was fair to call those kids fat
Penny : No sara, but she'd insulted me too by saying my son would be better off if I was dead so I just had to say something back at her and I knew that's where her weakness was. I'm not fatist at all - I'm a size 14 myself.
donnyrover : it wasn’t the editing - you actually said it...
Penny : I mean the editing in the sense that they edited out a lot more of what she said to me i.e. the bit about Harvey being better off if I was dead.
Chloe : Kristian, were you not tempted to go for your new 'gorgeous' alternative wife ;)
Kristian : I'd rather make love to a baboon!

PJG : Do you think that the programme was an accurate reflection of yourself as people? Do you accept that you may be criticised for your behaviour?
Kristian : It was as accurate as it can be in 60 minutes.
Chrissie : what did penny's employees at the salon think of blonde penny?
Penny : They thought that she was very lazy because she didn't do anything when the camera stopped rolling - she just went out the back and smoked.
vega : well done Kristian at least you learned some lessons
cumbrian gal : harvey's a cute kid. you spending more time with them now?
kez : how are you both enjoying spending more time with your gorgeous son
Penny : Definitely, I only work four days a week now and we devote all the time that he's awake to him. I didn't work for the first year he was born though so I've not always worked while I've had him - I did used to be a stay at home mum.
Charlotte dss : are you intending to have anymore children?
stephanie : kristian and penny are you thinking of having other children?
Penny : Well I was very ill having Harvey - I was three months in hospital - I don't carry properly. I would love to have another child though, if it's medically possible.
p : so would you say that blonde penny did have a positive impact on your lives then?
Penny : It wasn't so much her, it was me being taken away from my family that had an impact. More me being away from mine, you know? I'll never leave Harvey again.
melissa12345 : what gave you the incentive to take part in the show
Kirsty : What made you go on wife swap?
Penny : Heh, being in the wrong place at the right time! It happened so fast I didn't think twice about it until I had come back home after filming. I just filled in a form on the web, I do lots of that - filling in applications online - and it just turned out that they wanted me.
Craig-UK : What thing did you miss the most being at someone else’s house and did you feel obliged to act a little different?
Penny : I missed Harvey and Kristian most and no you have to act yourself because it's impossible to put up an act. I missed my creature comforts too - being in my own space and having my privacy.
SophieXXX : well done penny you were well entertaining

Penny : Heh thanks. I was very tired and I just wanted to go home at the end. I thought she was too aggressive. When we got separated that was the last I saw of her - thank God.
Chelz : was there any secret fights that weren’t shown?
Penny : Loads! Martin was always exploding and swearing a lot in front of the kids but only his video diaries were shown. He was always shouting at the kids and throwing the pets out. I became quite withdrawn due to this because my household is quite quiet and I'm not used to that kind of thing going on.
carrire : Do you think you'll ever be in touch with the other family?
Fyn : have you both 'kissed and made up ??'
Penny : Never in a million years. No, definitely no kissing and making up. But, saying that, I would definitely have the kids over, but I don't think their mum would allow it. They really wanted to come and visit me when it was all over, but you know...
boulette : I think Kristian secretly fancied the other penny !!
michaelsviews : Do you think you had a good effect on the family in the end?
Penny : Definitely - they were afraid to look nice because their Mum instilled in them that they didn't have to make an effort with their appearance, but the girls wanted to look like girls and Luke wanted to look trendy.
charliemouse : Don't you think you owe a little thanks to the other family as it’s brought out the best in your family
Penny : Charlie - yes definitely, I would say a thank you to the kids in that family if anyone because they reminded me of my own childhood because we were a very close family. And my Mother never worked until I was 12.
Fe : Why did you get so upset about the comments on your tie when you were offensive about her weight the first time you met
Kristian : Because she's just a slob. She'd made no effort to dress up. When I said she looked nice I meant she looked as nice as she could!
owen : kristian, do you feel that blonde penny had a problem with her self-image? you tried several times to compliment her, but it seemed so alien to her that she rejected it
Kristian : Penny had a big hang-up about looks and she'd hide behind the fact that she wears no make-up, so yes, a big problem with self-image. She told me she thought she looked like a he-she.
LC : What was the problem with buying clothes from a charity shop? Snobbery!
Penny : He couldn't see the point in it. At the end of the day she spent more money on cigarettes than we spend on clothes. She spent £300 a month on cigarettes.

Penny : So what's the point in going to charity shops when you're burning money like that?
prosper : Why do you put appearance above everything else?
Penny : prosper - I'd never put appearance above Harvey and I hope nobody thinks I would. I'm a trained make-up artist and have always worked in an industry where image is important. I get up an hour and a half earlier than the other Penny to put my face on, but where's the harm in that?
Wheat Free : have you got over your fear of mice yet?
zoology : why did they have mice??
Penny : The cats brought in three mice a day through the bedroom windows because the pets were allowed to go anywhere in the house and no I haven't got over my fear! I found it disgusting.
Little Mo : what was the feeling like being reunited with kristian again
Penny : Wonderful! I speak to him about 20 times a day usually so it was torture not speaking to him for that long. It felt like we were meeting each other at the altar on our wedding day again.
SophieXXX : what were your most entertaining moments on wife swap
Penny : I actually went and played skittles with Martin, but it wasn't shown and that was great fun because I beat him!
lisaxn : do you both think you have benefited from the experience?
aceselect : Kristian, did you get anything positive out of this, if so, what?
Penny : Definitely, we've always done everything for Harvey and now we do everything WITH Harvey.
Kristian : I appreciate what she did with the admin side of the business so I've taken that off her so she has more time with Harvey.
