Ali Bastian : Hi everybody, thanks for logging on and I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.

looby_lou : hi ali how did you first get into acting and was it something you always wanted to do?
Ali Bastian : Oh yes absolutely, I have always wanted to do it since I was a little girl. I started at Red Roof's Theatre school when I was 10 years old and started working with an agent. I did bit parts all the way through my education, some for TV and some for theatre.
Sam : Do you have a favourite among your colleagues on Hollyoaks?
Ali Bastian : Well, probably my best girlfriends on the show are Elize du Toit and Sarah Baxendale, they've been my house-mates for the past 8 months and we're all very close. They are people I definitely wouldn't want to lose touch with after leaving the show, not that I have any intentions of leaving the show just yet. We've got lots of hunky new boys too that have just started, but really we're all very good friends and I love them all to pieces.
lil_shenko : what was it like for you and other cast memebers to film stefans (jamies) last scenes ? i broke my heart just watching it
Ali Bastian : It nearly brought me to tears actually when we filmed the episodes where his character passed away. It was really sad to see Jamie’s character come to an end, but also, as a friend, it was sad to see him go because we started on Hollyoaks at the same time.
Kate : What would you like to happen to your charater in teh future?
Ali Bastian : Ooh...erm. Well she's been through quite a lot of heartache recently what with Alex and Jamie, and now her pregnancy. So I'd like to see her go through some happy times and stop crying! It’s been nice for me as an actress though to have to play such intense scenes. It would be nice for her to be in a happy relationship, but I have no idea who that would be with.
FireGoddess : Hello Ali, do you find it easy to cry on cue? What do you think about when doing such emotionally scenes?
Ali Bastian : Well I try to really immerse myself into what the character is going through, I'm getting better at crying because I have to do quite a lot of it these days. You find a zone in your head, a place emotionally to go to, and it's getting easier to do that.
grantman1 : Have you ever been annoyed with the scrip writers about the scenes they have given you?
Ali Bastian : No, mostly I've been really happy with my storylines and my scripts. I've had quite a variety, from doing quite glamorous scenes to dealing with some very emotional and more difficult scenes.
em : is jamie a good kisser?
Ali Bastian laughs
Ali Bastian : Oh gosh! I'd have to say yes really wouldn't I!? Next question! It's actually not very romantic doing a screen kiss - it's quite a mechanical process because you are always aware of where the camera is and where the lights are an all of that sort of thing.
fangie : do you fancy any of the hollyoaks ladz?? (truthly)
Ali Bastian : Truthfully! They are all very gorgeous and good-looking guys, but we all get to know each other so well and become so close as friends that I wouldn't like to complicate things.
Shanes Hunny Bunny : what would you do if u were in beccas position
Ali Bastian : Good question...I think it's one of those things that would be very difficult to say unless you were actually in that situation. I was very happy to tackle this storyline even though it was tough, because I strongly believe in freedom of choice. But ultimately as a woman I don't think you could ever say unless you were in that situation and it's one, thankfully. I've never been in.
Maddie : Have you ever been annoyed by any of the actors or actresses??
Ali Bastian : Hehe, no, honestly, it probably sounds like a boring answer, but we all get on so well, that's never been an issue. We spend too much time giggling together.
Davie : Would you ever think about leaving acting to become a pop artist like so many actors and actresses are doing?
Ali Bastian : Absolutely not! I can't sing! I don't sing! I've always had my heart set on acting and don't have any plans to break into the music industry. I think people would pay for me NOT to sing.
sillyfisillyfi69 : who are you closest to out of everybody?
Ali Bastian : Elize and Sarah (Izzy and Ellie). We've also got some great crew as well. As well as having quite a young cast we do have a young crew too.
Kirstie : would u eva like to be in any other soap apart from Hollyoakes?
johnston : i was acting in my school play last month, The Blood Brothers, i was sammy, a year 7 twin brother (im 15 btw) do you have any advice on how i could take my acting to a higher level
Ali Bastian : Kirstie, of all the soaps that are on I'm really, really happy to be part of Hollyoaks. I don't have any intentions of moving on to another soap. johnston, just stick at it no matter what. Get involved in as much as you can in terms of school plays, amateur dramatics and just get as much experience as you can and meet as many contacts as you can, but mainly, don't give up because it can be a tough business to break into.
johnston : thanks
Ali Bastian : And if I could sing I'd love to play Linda in Blood Brothers!
rach : is it a stressful job
Ali Bastian : On balance, not at all, it's a lot of fun and it's very fulfilling. For me there's nothing else I'd rather do, but the hours are long and they change from day to day. So it can be quite tiring and not quite as glamorous as it may appear, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
unknown : Would you like to do some behind the scenes work on Hollyoaks, Directing an episode maybe?
Ali Bastian : Ooh...yes it is quite a natural progression for actors to want to experiment behind the camera as well as in front of it, so maybe sometime in the future it might be interesting to do that but at the moment I'm happiest in front of the camera.
si : are u a cat or dog person?
Ali Bastian : A dog person.
richie : hi ali. at the moment u r playing a pregnant single woman. Wot r u views on single pregnancies in real life?
Ali Bastian : It can be a very difficult life, but if you've got the support around you like Anna's character then it is possible to bring up a happy child, but certainly having a baby is a very big responsibility for anyone.
Charmed Charlie : Do you like the make up & costume you get in Hollyoaks? because I read an article about the actress who plays Mandy & she doesnt much like the style of clothes she is dressed in.
Ali Bastian : Most of the time I quite like Becca's costumes. At the moment she's not in as glamorous outfits as usual but it works for me because it means I don't have to totter around in high heels all day!
Zoey! : What are the downfalls in you career
Ali Bastian : Hmm... um…not being able to plan for the future because you never know what's around the corner. It's a pretty insecure business at the best of times, even if you have security now it's not going to be like that forever, but all in all the positives definitely out-weigh the negatives.
Manc Ian : McDonnalds or Burger King?
Ali Bastian : Can I have Kentucky Fried Chicken? I try not to eat too much junk food actually, but every now and then I can't resist a KFC.
blueeyes2002 : if u ever left.we dont want u to though. how u would you like to leave? a big bang or a quiet leaving?
emily : When you leave would you like an explosive ending-what like?
Ali Bastian : Oh everybody hopes for a big bang to see you on your way. Sometimes it's nice if they leave a door open for you to come back in the future though.
percy : do u often get people come up to u on the streets thinkin your becca?
Ali Bastian : Every once in a while, but most of the time people can differentiate between reality and the show. It’s always nice when people come up and say hello though.
danni : Would you ever like to get into films?
Ali Bastian : I think most actors probably dream of going into movies at some time in their careers, I've had some experience already and I certainly enjoyed it. I was in a film called Fairy Tale: A True Story. I played a fairy and had to learn to fly which was an amazing experience.
Rhy5 : What do you do to chill-out?
Ali Bastian : I watch a lot of movies, curling up on my sofa and watching films or going to the cinema. I'm also a very big fan of sleep and am often found curled up in the corner of the Green Room fast asleep.
theoneandonly : What was your favourite episode in Hollyoaks??
Ali Bastian : Gosh, oh one of my favourites was the one where we shot Mandy's calendar because they dressed me up as a mermaid, it was about 2 hours of make up but it was great fun. That was one of the most enjoyable ones to work on.
Angelic Devil : what type of music do u like listening 2?
Ali Bastian : I've got a very eclectic taste in music, I listen to all sorts. I like everything form chill-out, to dance, to some heavy metal, I have a very unusual CD collection. A group of friends of mine are in a band called Vacant Stare, we all grew up together and they're doing very well, but their music is quite heavy.
Ricardo : What's yr fav movie then?
Ali Bastian : Amelie. I only saw that quite recently and want to see it again soon but I thought it was the most beautiful film I've seen for a long time.
danni : Have you been watching fame academy? Who do you want to win?
Ali Bastian : I have been watching it on and off, I don't get time to watch TV though, but I liked Ainslie and the song that he wrote - I think he could be quite a big star. Also Lamar has an amazing talent.
hollyoaksinfo : Why do you think Hollyoaks is such a success?
Ali Bastian : I think it caters for a really big market. It has something for everyone. It can be funny and emotional and it asks difficult questions and makes you think. It has a big mixture of characters, so hopefully, it has someone in it that everyone can relate to.
