Richard Bacon : I've only been to the MTV party, which wasn't very good because, despite being MTV they turned the music off at 12:20am!!! The only celebrity there was Tina Hobley from Harbour Lights!!!!! So, not quite the glam event you would expect!!!

Lass : Did you get any snogs??

Richard Bacon : No no it's 3 caravans between 6! No towels! I admire Planet 24 for how they efficiently save money!

Richard Bacon : It's actually alright - I've got a veranda! Most of the campsite is quite a dump though!

Richard Bacon : It's OK although I'm starting to tire of it towards the end of the week!

Paul_Cameron : What is happening with the British stars over there?

Richard Bacon : Generally Cannes hasn't seen a huge turnout of celebrities. We've seen Jerry Hall and Nick Moran. We went to the dreadful All Saints party! So bad that I walked out passed the organisers and said that was the worst party I have EVER been to.

Richard Bacon : A lot of the journalists have been complaining about the lack of stars out here.

Bunty : Richard are you getting a good reception from the French????
Nick : Do you like the French then?

Richard Bacon : I do like the French actually! I always have. They are often quite rude and arrogant and when they know you're British they especially turn it on. But, I would say I like the French attitude and the way they stand up for themselves. I quite admire that.

ruth : how much trouble did French have understanding your interpreter??
BigBrekkieBabe : Did the interpreter (or Richard) say something rude in French 'accidently'?

Richard Bacon : No I don't think so! The funny thing is that his French is good but not brilliant! I deliberately ask slightly confused questions to stifle him!!!

Richard Bacon : It reminds me of being at school when you laugh and you're not supposed to!! Erm . . I think that. . erm . .we may have been a little on the harsh side. But he entered into the spirit of it although he didn't really quite understand what he was doing. We were a touch hard!

Richard Bacon : There's very little dignity in being a presenter anyway but what little I have I think I'll keep! On my last ever OB I may well consider it!!!

Little One : so which stars are going to be on your part of the show tomorrow when you do the big screen breakfast

Richard Bacon : We've invited George Clooney plus one! I don't know if he'll come. Most of the film stars are flying in and out so it's difficult to pin them down. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't even get Lorraine Kelly!!!

Rich : Are you going to interview any of the porn stars e.g.. from Private?

Richard Bacon : Yeah the porn people are here too. It attracts more of the attention here than any of the other parties.

Clare Louise : hey!!...why don't you get some of the porn stars to do streaky bacon!!

Richard Bacon : People just line the streets to watch people going in to these parties. People just come to watch all the film stars go in.

lucy : Hi Richard, where are you off to next in your jet set life?

Richard Bacon : That would be a rare moment of them being partially clothed!!! Nice thought though! Erm... back to London and more OB's We're going to cover the Euro 2000 games and a couple more foreign OB's in the summer so the summer's looking pretty good.

Nick : Who would win out of you and Johnny in a fight?

Richard Bacon : hehe . . .erm . . that's interesting. I guess erm . . I've never been particularly good in fights, I've been on the fringes but I would imagine he'd probably win although I have the height advantage and I'm a bit broader.

BigBrekkieBabe : How's the Spiders campaign going?

Richard Bacon : Well we got a good response from Crawlers and some bloke said that he'd put it on Cable TV in Croydon - a mild victory! I deliberately went and chose a rubbishy looking film and I enjoyed it much more than one of the bigger movies I go and see at the Multiplex. If you do get a chance to see it then give it a try it's very amusing!!

giant_frying_pan : Are you really in France, or is Planet 24 taking the cheap route and using actors and backdrops?

Richard Bacon : It wouldn't be inconceivable for us to stand on a beach in Weston-Super-Mare!! But we are really here! But to keep it Big Breakfast we are in caravans!!!

JOEY_218 : I'm hoping to go to Cannes next year with a film is it worth it?

Richard Bacon : There's so much rubbish out here. From a marketing point of view it would be worth it- it's flooded with directors and actors. It has changed my perspective on film being out here, 95% of the stuff is utter rubbish! It may be worth your while - there is no shortage of wannabes out here. But arrange all your meetings beforehand. If you organised it properly it could be useful.

Richard Bacon : hmmmm . . .good question. I like early mornings so it's not that. I'd like to have a bit more time sometimes to prepare and write and get the idea a bit more ready but it's just an impossibility on a live daily show. But we do OK : )

Richard Bacon : I will be for now - I'm really enjoying it more than I ever have. I love it at the moment. We're looking at some funny stuff to do over the summer so it's all good. I'm quite happy to stay there for now and I'm finding it more enjoyable than anything I've ever done before.
