Big Breakfast - Mark Bright

On Monday 8th February, the Big Breakfast's football pundit, Mark Bright, put his ball down long enough for you to ask him some questions.

Mark Bright : Hi all :)

Mackem_4_Life : Brighty who`s the best manager u have played under?

Mark Bright : Steve Coppell. When I was at Crystal Palace.

Mackem_4_Life : How did u manage to get a job on the big breakfast?

Mark Bright : They asked me to come in to preview the FA Cup Final... last year? Then they asked me to do the World Cup.

Paul Wrighton : brighty no offence or any thing but are you going to retire soon? and become one of the bigbreakfast stars because face it charlton arnt that good you want to play for arsenal.

Mark Bright : Err.....I'd love to play for Arsenal, I saw them play Saturday and they played very well. But I'll play as long as I can, as long as the legs'll let me.

seanhome : do you ever think you'll become a football manager and if so, for what club?

Mark Bright : No, it's too stressful. I'd rather criticise.

Mackem_4_Life : Who do u think should manage the English Team now Brighty??

Mark Bright : Arsene Wenger :)

TWM_99 : Who do you think is the next Michael Owen?

Mark Bright : The next Michael Owen? Uhmm, hard to say... Francis Jeffers - who plays for Everton he's only 18... I think he looks quite good and I know they rate him highly.

DDevil : Who is your best friend in the Big Breakfast Crew?

Mark Bright : Cockney Vic!... and Johnny, obviously.

mark : what has been the high point SO FAR! in your career?

Mark Bright : Hm...I think longevity. playing for 15 years is quite long, and I've played in two FA Cup Finals, a Coca-Cola cup final, and I won the Golden Boots in 87-88. But unfortunately I haven't won a major competition.

Ben : Who is harder; Vinnie or Julian Dicks?

Mark Bright : I've been kicked by them both and they're about the same :-)

Mackem_4_Life : Whats your fave type of Music Brighty?

Mark Bright : I like all music, but I like R'n'B, Mrs Bright's music, and er a bit of house.

jose : did you get to see kelly naked?

Mark Bright : Not yet :)

Nico : Where do u go after the show?

Mark Bright : Usually straight to training, but we're playing tonight so I'm going to go to a hotel near to the ground, and sleep till about 4.

TWM_99 : Do you believe in reincarnation?

Mark Bright : Let's not go there!:>

jester : President Clinton Guilty or Innocent?

Mark Bright : I love President Clinton. He's got to stay.

Steve clark : Who's your favourite comedian

Mark Bright : Cor, dear... Richie Blackwell on MTV.

lee : Brighty, Who has been your best strike partner?

Mark Bright : I think it goes without saying - the man with the same name except for a W... Ian Wright.

davy : Should the four nations return to football

Mark Bright : Erm, no... because there' s too much footie being played now anyway, and that would just congest football more. Plus England always win. Heh.

Jamie : What's the best ground you've played at (wembley aside) and how does Molineux rank?

Mark Bright : The Wolves stadium is superb. But, present day it has to be Old Trafford - everything is fantastic about the place.

Jamie : Do you think there should be a mid-season break?

Mark Bright : Yes! Definitely. Get the Christmas period out the way, and then have the first two weeks off in January, after the New Year's Day fixture.

lee : Brighty, Have you ever had any ambition to play abroad?

Mark Bright : Yes, I've always wanted to play abroad, and a couple of seasons ago I went to Switzerland, but it only lasted a few months because of a pay dispute and I had to come home :(

Moriarty : Did you see that picture of Matt LeTissier and Emily Symons from Home And Away? Is it possible that a team could suffer because its players have other things on their minds;-)

Mark Bright : What players do in their private life is up to them, as long as it doesn't affect football... Lucky Matt LeTissier :)

Nico : Who did you support as a child?

Mark Bright : Port Vale. I lived about half a mile from the ground.

Nico : What does Johnny get up to behind the scenes?

Mark Bright : Lots of naughty things *grin*.

Rosie : What did you think of Glenn Hoddle's sacking?

Mark Bright : I was disappointed because I think he was doing a good job for England. I think he wished he could have redone that interview, I'm sure he'd have said things differently.

Jamie : Why aren't you smiling in this years football sticker album?

Mark Bright : Someone told me I'm better looking if I don't smile. It's not true!
Mark Bright chuckles.

Mackem_4_Life : Did u ever have a sneaky look in Denise`s dressing room whilst she wasnt there :O))??

Mark Bright : I had a look in there while she *was* there.

Nico : Who is your role model?

Mark Bright : Cor, don't know really. I don't really have one. There's people I admire... Michael Jordan, Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton (only kidding) :)

lee : What is life like being married to another famous person?

Mark Bright : In our house there're no famous people. And I'd love her just the same if she was just in a run-of-the-mill job.

Electric Blue ! : Do you think your private life is invaded when you're famous?

Mark Bright : A lot of people's are, but I think we're quite lucky. No-one comes round our place taking photos. We can go out and about as normal. That must tell me I'm not famous, if I can do all that :))

Moriarty : Who has been the best man to have in the dressing room before a game?

Mark Bright : Definitely Wrighty! He's really effervescent and gets the team going, lifts the spirits.

Mackem_4_Life : Do u and Wrighty keep in touch?

Mark Bright : Yes! I speak to him most weeks.

lee : What do the think to abuse David Beckham is getting from the crowds?

Mark Bright : I dislike it. Recently when he played at the Valley there was a lot of it and about his girlfriend as well. It's not necessary, but unfortunately football crowds seem to enjoy that sort of thing. He could have the last laugh if they win the Championship though :)

PFURNER : If you could be anyone who would you be and what would you do?

Mark Bright : Gawd, anybody? Anybody??? Cor dear, er... I'd be Johnny Vaughn. For a day.

Mackem_4_Life : What did u say to Michael Gray after his penalty miss at Wembley coz I saw you consoling him on the TV, what did u actually say??

Mark Bright : I tried to tell him that he's still a great player, and it could have been anyone who missed that penalty, but Peter Reid was consoling him so I don't think he heard. But I wrote to him in the summer anyway.

Zippedi : Brighty, what boots do you wear?

Mark Bright : I cut the brand names off the boots now, because I don't get 'em free at the moment. In fact, all the players do that now.

trampus : Brighty, what's your prediction for tonight?

Mark Bright : Hopefully... Charlton win, Bright scores.

C4ChatEd : That's it everyone, Mark's got to leave us now, but keep your eyes peeled to chat.channel4.com, there'll be another chat very soon.

Mark Bright : Thanks for all the questions, I'll speak to you all again some time in the future :) Keep watchin the show!
