U23D at the Imax, Waterloo  in General

8 February 2008, 2:18 PM

U2

When we were asked to attend a preview screening of 'U23D' at the Imax cinema in London's Waterloo, we saw an opportunity, with its million-foot-high screens and cutting edge 3D technology, to be transported directly into the realms of a day dream. A dream to be part of a mammoth concert performed by a bewilderingly huge rock band, writes Matt Griffin.

  • José González, Union Chapel, Islington  in Gigs

    25 October 2007, 4:00 PM

    Jose Gonzalez

The intimate atmosphere of the Union Chapel was the perfect setting for the delicate music of José González last night. An endearingly-shy musician, González managed to whisper 'thank you' only once in the opening 15 minutes of  Spanish guitar in the echoing church, writes Matthew Baskerville.

    28 November 2007, 4:00 PM

    Digitalism

This 'dance' music resurgence is great, isn't it? Not washed-out, 'love rhymes with dove' dance music - but d-a-n-c-e music - music you can really dance to! Like it or not, nu rave has paved the way for techno and house to brush the dust off their glowsticks and head back to the clubs. Digitalism are one of the spearheads, writes Harold Shiel.

  • Gig review: Babyshambles, NME Awards Launch  in Gigs

    7 December 2007, 4:11 PM

    NME

With Take That rocking out next door in the mindzone (or whatever it's now called) of the Millennium Dome (or whatever it's now called) there are some jealous glances over the hall as we are forced to head into the little IndigO2 (this IS what it's called) for the launch of the NME Awards. A.Human

Formed through disillusioned work chat in a Clerkenwell boozer A.Human look every part the 20-something Londoners: four crisp-fringed boys and one cute girl, all dressed in funereal black like some sort of trendy wake, writes Harold Shiel.
