Snap Glasgow report

Becca Frankel   26 February 2008, 11:16 AM

We went up to Glasgow, and had a lovely evening at the absolutely delightful Mono.  It's a bar, and a vegan restaurant, and a record shop and microbrewery, all housed in a very cool building with lots of cute staff.  They were all really helpful to co-ordinate the night, and we got a v professional screen brought in, which made the films look really fab.  Filmmakers and lovers came by and made the most of the free bar, whilst working out who everyone was.

There was a mix of established directors and producers who welcomed the chance to have a networking event, 'new talent' who were working on their own projects or training schemes, such as 4Talents new Scottish viral directing scheme and Bridging the Gap, and people from the Glasgow Film Festival.  Some of the most enthusiastic viewers were actually partners and friends, which re-enforces for me how much we need to encourage more curated documentary nights, for general consumption.   Thanks everyone for coming by, and also for your feedback about which films worked best.  After Belfast next month (27th March), I will be re-shuffling the Snap reel.

It's good to know...

... we've teamed up with The Co-operative for this competition. We have a team of experts ready to watch the films, and they will choose which one will win a cash prize of £2,000, which ones get shown to a Channel4 Commissioning Editor, and which ones have the chance to be shown on Channel 4 itself on their 3 Minute Wonder strand.
