Kate Taunton's first documentary after uni got her nominated for an RTS best newcomer award. Holloway Hairdo is an intimate obs doc about a sanctuary for female prisoners, and is brilliant in terms of fought for access and touching characters. One of Kate's major strengths is her long term commitment to building relationships, so people have faith in her by the time she comes to pick up her camera.

Her series airing on 3 Minute Wonder this week also benefits from a long standing relationship she has nutured, also with a scheme that touches people on the edge of society. ShoeShine Stories is about people she found through StreetShine, a scheme that gives people who have been homeless the chance to earn a regular income in central London. Here's an outline of the four films.

Episode 1, Monday 28th Jan, 7.55pm: Jan escaped Communist Poland in 1981 to sleep rough on the streets of London. He's now proud to be known as the best shoe shiner in the city.

Episode 2, Tuesday 29th Jan, 7.55pm: Lawrence from Nigeria reveals how shining shoes in the city is all part of his master plan to become a world leader.

Episode 3, Wednesday 30th Jan, 7.55pm: An alternative perspective on rough sleeping from one of London's only female shoe shiners.

Episode 4, Thursday 31st Jan, 7.55pm: Inspiring tale from former rough sleeper and drug addict Terry, who with the help of shoe shining, has turned his life around.
