This was fantastic TV! A narrative story was crafted from the footage of the doctors in the forest, and they were even hotter than expected. A thoughtful producer had even suggested that one shave and one stay stubbly, so the ladies at home could keep abreast of which was their fav. And, they started off their investigations by each sampling a different type of local erectile dysfunction treatment, then filming each other with night cam in their shared tent to compare results! Pheww. They tried participated in everyday activities such as crocodile hunting and scaling trees to steal honey from hives, but took more of a back seat role as the local men fearless tackled the tasks at hand. What impressed me also about this show was how effortlessly key anthropological insights were woven into the brothers observations. For example, their new found respect for dealing with families, not just the child, and continuing to do so, even when their was such a high rate of moralities. Their was a lovely subtitled quote at the end, where the local healer said "with your medication and mine, the child will be fine", which was a great way of sidestepping the tricky issue of cultural relativism and whether science 'really worked', and respecting actual working environments, rather than focusing on absolute outcomes.
