Back, and with a great show for LSFF next week

Hello! Hope you all had great festive season fun. I think it did, apart from lurgi and nearly cutting my finger off. But you don't come here for my health, you come for documentary news and views, so here's the first good thing of the year...

Yes, it's the most wonderful time of the year, the London Short Film Festival...which used to be the Halloween Film Festival, and has got me very excited for the last few years. It just has the most interesting and properly-curated shows of any film fest I know of in the UK, with an ace mix of clever stuff, silly stuff and always-cutting-edge stuff. It shows shorts I don't see anywhere else and it's proper indie too. Best way to develop a love like mine for is just to go to as much as you can, and you can download the (beautiful-looking, naturally) programme here

Particularly, you might like to attend the FourDocs documentary show on Wednesday at 8pm at the Roxy Bar and Screen in South London. We're showing a special hour of football documentaries, with live keyboard accompaniment, then there's the selection chosen for the docs award. I'm judging it, so I can't single any out, but there are some absolute crackergems in the programme, believe me.

Plus it's free. That's like 2 and a half hours or something of free documentaries! See, isn't this fest ace?

It's good to know...
