Mike Myers comedy upsets Hindus

American Hindu communities have accused new Mike Myers comedy 'The Love Guru' of lampooning their religion. In the film, Myers plays Guru Pitka, resplendent in a kaftan and strumming a sitar, who aims to heal a hockey player's broken heart. Hindu leader Rajan Zed, president of the Nevada-based Universal Society of Hinduism, told India's 'Hindustan Times' that the movie "appeared to be lampooning Hinduism and Hindus and using Hindu terms frivolously." However, distributor Paramount insists it is a "nondenominational comedy" and "a satire created in the same spirit as Austin Powers."
