Manaus again.

The boat pulls in slowly at 10pm. We are literally jumping off as it does so. We grab something that is claimed to be a taxi and all nearly die from the carbon monoxide. At the Teatro Amazonas square (I really must write a longer proposal based on that) we collect our additional stuff. Then another taxi to the airport for some fraught repacking and we make it to check in.
All the flights here seem to happen over night. Flights at 2am, 3am etc...
Our luggage is about 30kg per person and we have tonnes of hand luggage, but they don't seem to mind. If we our last two flights are without excess baggage, we'll be on budget.

Several coffees and juices and pastries later we are just about calm enough to laugh about it.

In Porto Velho, 2 hours south of Manaus (and where we had initially planned to get the boat too) we get a simple hotel and crash out looking a bit older. We are in Rondonia now. The most deforested part of the rainforest and home to cowboys and gold miners. A different mindset.
