    The hot rod scene's an almost exclusively retro affair, the Max Power brigade hardly influence anything beyond the next Demon Tweeks catalogue, and names such as Von Dutch (a legendary pin-striper) are now better known on baseball caps..

    I keep spotting cars with personalised number plates - or at least, number plates with some truncated, text-speak-style resemblance to a name or noun and laboriously rearranged letters and numbers.
