    Craig Thomas   22 November 2007, 2:01 PM

It was one of those commutes this morning. Stuck in traffic for no apparent reason, I at least had time to get wound up by the ad on the back of the bus in front of me.

  • Is your car a billboard?  in Media

    Craig Thomas   19 October 2007, 4:16 PM

Advertising has taken over the modern world. We wear labels all over our clothes; you can't drive down a street without seeing an estate agent's board; and you're going to have to skip another one now to read about what I think is an ad too far.

  • Entertained to death  in Media

    Euan Sey   5 October 2007, 3:52 PM

Here's your choice. Five thousand tunes and a complete database of your favourite playlists, or the comfort of knowing that you aren't running the risk of smashing your car into a tree every time the phone rings? In theory it should be a no-brainer.

  • An eco-trip back to the 80s  in Media

    Nick Gibbs   4 October 2007, 10:39 AM

Unwrap a Star Bar and lean back - we're in an 80s revival and I'm going to tell you why. The growing tide of new cars claiming magically low carbon dioxide levels isn't new. In fact it's a weird facsimile of a trend that began 25 years ago.

  • Death Proof - 21st century's first real car movie  in Media

    Craig Thomas   3 October 2007, 10:36 AM

It's been a bit of a lean time for us car fans at the movies of late. Apart from some great chase sequences in the Bourne films, there's been little to get the petrol in our veins racing while we sit in the dark popping popcorn and slurping on a bucket of Coke.

    Colin Overland   21 September 2007, 10:16 AM

Your life just got better, although you may not know it yet. Why? Because the loos at Toddington services have been fitted with Dyson Airblade hand driers. Everyone dries their hands, and everyone goes to Toddington services sooner or later.

  • Bring on the dancing girls? No thanks  in Media

    Craig Thomas   18 September 2007, 10:50 AM

Wandering around the Frankfurt Motor Show last week I had to check that I hadn't accidentally sat in a DeLorean and gone back to the 70s.

  • Greener than thou  in Environment

    Craig Thomas   13 September 2007, 3:39 PM

'It's all f**kin' green, isn't it?' That was what one senior motor industry executive from the UK said to me at Frankfurt. And he wasn't wrong.

  • Horns of a dilemma  in Driving

    Colin Overland   10 September 2007, 10:47 AM

There are two good uses for your car's horn. One, the gentle prod, is to encourage the person in front of you to notice that the lights have turned to green. The other good use, the louder one, is a way of saying 'please don't kill me'.

    Farah AlKhalisi   30 August 2007, 6:18 PM

When you're trying to keep an ancient car going on a tight budget, you get to visit dealers so far from polished main-franchise service bays they might as well be in another industry altogether.
