How is content restricted to ensure children and young people are unable to access unsuitable content?

Not all content on All 4 is suitable for younger audiences. Such content will have guidance notes displayed, which provide warnings about the programme's content. Some content will also be assigned an age rating of either 16 or 18. You have two choices on how to protect children and young people from accessing such content.

Instant Access: Each time you select a programme with an age rating you will be asked to confirm you are over 16 or 18 years of age, depending on the type of content selected.

PIN Access: By selecting this option you can set up a PIN number. Then if you (or someone else using your mobile phone or tablet device) try to view a programme with an age rating, you will be asked to confirm that you are over 16 or 18 years of age, depending on the type of content you tried to access, and will be required to enter your PIN. You will have to enter your PIN for each programme you want to view, but you can watch as many episodes of that programme you like without being prompted for your PIN again until you re-start your browser (note that simply closing the browser on your mobile device may mean that the session remains open while it is multi-tasked to the background). It is possible to disable the PIN at any time. You will need to enter the PIN correctly in order to do this.
