SUPERNATURAL fans rejoice and demons tremble! The Winchester brothers are back on our screens from Tuesday 17 April at 10pm, when the 13th series of the US monster hit makes its UK premiere on E4.

The long-running fantasy drama follows Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), brothers and hunters of all things supernatural, as they track down all manner of ghoulish creatures. Determined to protect humankind from the spawn of hell, even if it costs them their own lives (which it frequently does – death is … optional in the world of the Winchesters), Sam and Dean are bonded by blood and a fine line in witty sarcasm.

But at the end of season 12 (season 12 spoilers ahead), the brothers were left reeling from the personal losses they suffered as they tried to prevent the birth of a Nephilim, the offspring of a human woman and Lucifer himself. The arrival of the Nephilim opened a rift into an apocalyptic world where angels and demons do battle, and where humans are caught in the cross fire. While searching for a way to close the rift and seal Lucifer inside, Sam and Dean’s demon frenemy Crowley and their best angel friend Castiel (Misha Collins) are cut down, with the Winchesters powerless to intervene. And while the rift is closed and Lucifer trapped on the other side, so is Mary Winchester, the brothers' demon-hunting mother.

So as season 13 opens, the Winchester’s are in shock and mourning, barely able to pick up the pieces of their shattered world. Dean struggles to come to terms with the loss of Castiel, while Sam refuses to accept that their mother is unreachable. But there’s a newborn Nephilim in the world, naked, confused, full of unbounded power and called Jack. So the brothers need to set their personal feelings aside and track Jack down, but as they start their search it becomes apparent that they have differing views on how best to deal with Lucifer’s love child. And it’s not long before they realise that they aren't the only ones intent on finding the missing Jack.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the rift Mary needs to find her feet in the world of the angel-demon apocalypse quickly as Lucifer is on the hunt and he’s just a tiny bit annoyed.

The stage is set for a rollercoaster ride of supernatural thrills as season 13 promises more monsters than Dean Winchester could stab with a stick. Keep Tuesday nights clear from now on, the Winchesters are going to need all the help they can get.
