Paul graduated from the University of Wales with a degree in History and Politics. He then started his career as an accountant working for Touche Ross in London in 1980.

In 1982 he moved to BissLancaster/WCRS (advertising and PR company) as an Account Director. In 1986 he moved over to radio and trained as a Producer and Studio Manager at the BBC.

In 1990 he started working for Itel where he remained for 11 years, the last three of which he was Deputy Managing Director of the company.

Paul moved to Channel 4 in January 2001 taking on the position of Managing Director of Channel 4 International. He became Managing Director of 4 Rights in April 2002 where he is responsible for all the exploitation of programme rights for 4 Ventures.
