Consumer Products

Consumer Products is responsible for developing and releasing a wide range of products and services for Channel 4's programme and channel brands. The department is dedicated to ensuring that full value is achieved from rights ranging from Video and DVD, Publishing and Music to Telephony, Radio, Merchandising and Online Retailing.

In order to give its product and talent partners the best possible returns it has established joint ventures for its major product areas including:

Channel 4 Video is a joint venture with Video Collection International - the UK's largest independent video distributor. Channel 4 Video co-ordinates all elements of a programme's DVD release including the development of DVD extras, packaging and design, music clearances and marketing.
The joint venture with Universal Music, the world's largest record company, enables consumer Products to release commercial TV tie-in CDs, with all the advantages of accessing Universal's repertoire, marketing and distribution.


Consumer Products also works very successfully with a wide range of companies outside these relationships.

It offers on-screen product trails and marketing campaigns to co-ordinate with programme transmission. And in addition to conventional retail and sales outlets for all its products it also offers producers a direct route to market via the Channel 4 Shop: www.channel4.co.uk/shop
