4Learning is the educational arm of Channel 4. It enables Channel 4 to fulfil its public service requirement to broadcast 330 hours of schools television programming and support for at least eight hours a week of adult television programming each year. It commissions:

|  | multimedia learning resources for sale to schools and colleges
|  | online, print and phone support for adult education programmes

4Learning's multimedia resources for primary schools include:
The Hoobs (TV, video and website), The Number Crew (TV,video, website and CD-ROM), The Writing House (TV, video and CD-ROM), BookBox (TV, video and website), Citizen Power (TV and website), Living and Growing (video and print), Okey Cokey Karaoke! (TV,video and CD) and Seeing Science (TV-ROMs).
4Learning's multimedia resources for secondary schools include: Grid Club (website and publications), Homework High (website and publications), Maths Mansion (TV, video, CD), Extra (TV, video, website and TV-ROMs for Modern Foreign Languages), Twelfth Night (TV, video and online), Clipbank TV-ROMs for History, Science and Geography.

4Learning supports Channel 4's adult educational programming with websites on www.channel4.com, enabling viewers to extend their enjoyment of its programmes, or even their participation with them - Think TV, Jamie's Kitchen and Time Team's Big Dig websites are recent examples. IDEASFACTORY, Channel 4's on-line and off-line guide to getting in and getting on in the creative industries, is also commissioned and managed by 4Learning - www.channel4.com/ideasfactory.
In 2002 4Learning launched its first mobile phone subscription service, TexTips 4 Lovers, supporting Channel 4 programmes about sex and relationships. Islamic Inspirations followed, sending subscribers thoughts, prayers and Islamic wisdom as Channel 4 followed The Hajj.
4Learning works with a wide range of suppliers including TV production companies, software companies, writers, illustrators, designers and project managers. Many of 4Learning's initiatives are extended through partnerships with public agencies and corporations. Partnerships with Pearsons (on Knowledge Box), with the IEE, Advantage West Midlands and Scottish Enterprise (on IDEASFACTORY) and with Nelson Thornes (on Extra) are recent examples.
4Learning's innovative, high quality and engaging productions repeatedly win industry awards, such as RTS, BAFTA and BIMA.
