Edinburgh International Film Festival seeks a CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR as MATERNITY COVER
To work with the current Artistic Director Hannah McGill for two months in January and February 2009 before her maternity leave and to complete and deliver the programme of the 2009 EIFF in June.
This is a leadership position requiring curatorial and negotiating skills, an encyclopaedic knowledge of film and significant experience of the international film industry. Contract initially for 7 months.

Accommodation required for visiting filmmakers to Document 6 International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival
Do you have a spare room that you would be happy to give up to an international filmmaker from Document 6 Film Festival?
The festival runs from 15-19 October at the CCA, Sauchiehall Street. Anyone who accommodates a filmmaker will receive a full festival pass, which entitles them to free entry to all screenings throughout the festival, plus all side events.

The brainchild of Sharon McAllister, a media graduate and former Apprentice in the BBC programme of the same name, Sit1.tv is an online television station that focuses on Scotland.
The target market is 18 to 40-year-olds with an interest in Scotland both at home and abroad.
The station is now looking for shorts from Scottish filmmakers about Scotland or with a very strong Scottish focus. This will be an ongoing opportunity that Sit1.tv would like to establish to support and promote Scottish talent in the creative industries.

HI-Arts has announced a new and important extension to its highly successful critical reading project for writers - Work in Progress.
Under the new scheme, writers of screenplays for TV or film living in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland can submit their work for assessment and will receive back a detailed report with professional advice on areas for possible improvement and development. It can also provide advice on promoting completed scripts for potential production.
Work in Progress is free to use and is open to writers over the age of 16 years, but not to those in full-time education or completing a post-graduate course in creative writing. Writers submitting work and the assessors to the project remain anonymous to each other.

Well, if this sounds familiar, then you are not alone. These are common scenarios for professionals working within creative media.
Skillset Careers is currently able to offer a limited number of face-to-face careers guidance sessions completely FREE OF CHARGE to those working in creative media within the screen industries, or who have had experience of working in the creative sectors.
Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the creative media industries, provides specialist, one-to-one careers guidance sessions to individuals in the creative industries.
Skillset's advisors are highly experienced industry practitioners who have been trained and given the resources to provide individuals in Scotland with an opportunity to discuss their career development in detail. Our careers sessions enable individuals to put in place a tailored action plan to take away and use. The service is also available in England, Wales and in Northern Ireland.
Your session will last between an hour and hour and a half and take place in a central location in Glasgow or Edinburgh. And the best part? For a limited number, this service is available completely FREE OF CHARGE.
To book a session, please complete an application form, giving information about your career and needs to allow your allocated advisor to prepare for your guidance session. Once we receive your completed application form, we will contact you to schedule a suitable appointment. Please note that free sessions will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Skillset also offers an email service and freephone helpline number for more general career-related enquiries, such as, where to find a course for a specific skill and marketing yourself. About Films is seeking creative excellence within the UK film industry. We will invest a total of £100,000, which will be split between a feature film and a documentary that is uniquely innovative and will enthrall a worldwide audience.
In addition to financing the projects, About Films will guide the Producers through the minefield of deliverables and help to create a marketing pack for the festival circuit.
About Films will not only take on the international sales of the project, ensuring its global success, but we will also give the successful Producers the chance to add their future projects to the About Films slate. Such an offering has never been seen before in the UK so make sure you apply early!
