Comedy Highs
The next things are always the most exciting to me. At the moment I'm at the early stages of developing a series with Mark E. Smith from The Fall, so that's quite exciting because he's somebody I've admired for a long time. It's a comedy drama that like most things probably won't get commissioned. It's a supernatural-comedy-thriller-drama - an under-explored market I feel! I was particularly proud of the second series of Nebulous.
Comedy Lows
Doing stand-up gigs and having been booked in somewhere you were told was a theatre and you turn up and it's a school refectory. Then you're told you won't be provided with microphones, and you're thinking, "What am I doing here? There's got to be more satisfaction working in sewerage!" You travel halfway across the country to perform in front of ten people in a refectory!
Comedy Favourites
Mark Gatiss is one of the most talented comedy actors of our generation. The stuff I've watched recently that I've really enjoyed is the first series of Peep Show, Help, and The League of Gentlemen (massively underrated and influential).
