Glamorous Bedroom Makeover

Before: The bedroom had layers of old wallpaper and paint on the walls, pipework running down the wall to the boiler in the room below and an ugly 1960s fire surround, which was ripped out and blocked up to create extra space for storage.

After: To give the room a sophisticated feel that wasn’t overly girly, and to keep the budget down, the walls were painted in a white matt emulsion, then the chimney breast and the wall opposite behind the bedhead were papered with reflective floral wallpaper.

Use Wallpaper To Exaggerate Space

The wallpaper not only adds glamour – its reflective qualities also help the room feel lighter and brighter, despite the mainly neutral tones used. Get inspiration to make your dark bedroom brighter from our gallery.

Link Up Your Colour Scheme

The grey-painted furniture picks up the silver tones of the wallpaper, while the bold pink adds a splash of contrasting colour that helps tie the scheme together. Find out how to colour scheme in our dedicated pages.

Create A Focal Point

The curvaceous four-poster bed makes a stunning focal point within the room, while its dramatic black colour helps to tone down the feminine side of the scheme.

Reflect Light

The flooring – a pale carpet – makes the room feel luxurious and also helps throw light upwards, increasing the impression of space.
