Loft Bathroom Conversion

Before: Carved from a loft, the aim of the design of the new bathroom was to create a space that felt generously proportioned. The addition of a roof window meant that the sloping ceiling became a less dominant feature.

After: Despite the room being long and thin, with a sloping ceiling running across its length, the finished look is very successful. Why?

Use Light Colours To Enhance Space

The lighter colours are kept above waist level, enhancing the height of the ceiling, while deeper shades – which are still very pale – are kept to the lower part of the room. This helps make the room seem wider and taller throughout.

Create A Focus

The eye is also given a focus at the end of the room in the form of a wide storage chest – another feature that helps the room feel wider.

Make The Layout Uncomplicated

The layout of the room is all about balance. The bath sits centrally beneath the window and dead square on the vanity units, while the shower fits comfortably into the far corner. Where possible, in an awkwardly shaped room, you should always look for a similar sense of balance.
