Setting a realistic schedule will help you avoid the mistakes we've seen all too often on Property Ladder in the past. It's not unusual for developers are overly optimistic with their scheduling. Allow contingency money in case unforeseen problems stretch your schedule, and think on your feet to minimise any overrun.

Good advice Sarah. I am looking to embark on a career in property development however unfortunately buy to let mortgages are few and far between. Lets hope for a good release of credit into the marketplace. In the meantime I'm just counting the pennies.
