23. Be Inspired

Fancy doing nothing more than surfing the internet for ideas on how you might improve your home, were you to ever get off the sofa another weekend? Look no further than 4Homes for stunning real homes, design and style ideas, plus lots of advice, tips and ideas for how to improve your home. Then, if the sun comes out, light the barbecue to celebrate.

24. Look At Your Mortgage Deal

Why settle down with a good book when you could be looking for a new mortgage deal (we’re joking of course, but if your deal is up for renewal soon, it’s got to be done…)? Would an offset mortgage be best for you? Or perhaps you just need help starting your search to find the best mortgage for you?

25. Get The Olympics Indoors

We don’t just mean turning on the tv… we mean creating your own home gym. In the long run, it should be cheaper than gym membership, you’ll make good use of a spare room, and get fit. Failing that, maybe Beijing has inspired you into planning a trip to China? We can help there, too.

26. Lie Down In A Dark Room

Always a good option for a long weekend, we’re loving the idea of a home cinema just as much as a home gym. Why? It saves on cinema tickets, you make impressive use of a spare room, you can use it to watch all your favourite 4Homes tv shows in luxury and you don’t even have to leave the house…

27. Beat The Credit Crunch

Not by putting your head under a pillow (although we wish it were that simple…), but by reading our features on beating the credit crunch and surviving it.

28. Plan Ahead

Probably the most put-off task in the majority of British homes, now is the time to tackle and plan your finances. Rather clean a dirty old toilet? See tip 9.

29. Face The Music

If the credit crunch is beginning to get the better of you, now’s the time to sit down and work out how to get through it. Don’t know where to start? Find out how to beat your borrowing crisis and avoid repossession here. Still need help? Ask our experts.

30. Be Brave

Looking forwards not back? If you’ve got the spare cash and the daring… now is said to be a good time to buy a property – whether you’re planning to redevelop it or let it out. We’ve got all you need (and lots more to come) on developing a property on a tight budget, plus guides on renting and buy to let.

  1. I have bought a one bed Victorian flat with single glazed sash windows.I would like to double glaze them to retain heat and reduce noise. Would it be possible to do, would it be expensive and how would I find a glazier that could supply and fit the windows?
