So, you’ve got the time and the weather’s bound to be terrible. What are you going to do? How about spending the Bank Holiday weekend profitably - sorting your house, sorting your bills, sorting all those jobs you’ve been putting off? Sound too tricky even to start? We’ve made it super easy… and added a financial incentive. So what are you waiting for?

Kitchen Island. Revamp Your Kitchen

1. Rethink Your Kitchen

Been planning a kitchen redesign? Now’s the time to make appointments to get round and see at least three kitchen planners. It’s always best to go with a sound idea of what you want, so design yours on paper at home first. A good looking kitchen could add 10 per cent to the value of your home (and you needn’t spend that 10 per cent to get the look you want).

2. Transform Your Spaces

Whether your living room… or bedroom… or bathroom… or hallway… or kitchen… by getting rid of woodchip wallpaper and replacing it with a fabulous new wallpaper. The latest trend is to wallpaper all four walls of a room, but you can save money by just papering one or two feature walls, and even more by doing the wallpapering yourself.

Wall Stickers. Improve Your Rooms - Make & Save Money

3. Cheaper Than Wallpaper

… but just as effective at creating a whole new look, stickers are quick and easy to apply and come in show stopping designs. For best effect, apply to clean, plain walls and limit your choice to one design per floor of your house.

4. Less Than Stickers

… but more than simple, creating your own paint effects is easy and they’re just as good looking. Not sure how? Stenciling and painting stripes are both quick and easy and the only cost is the paint and the decision about which colour scheme to choose.

5. Get Some New (Old) Furniture

Looking for something new for your home? We at 4Homes love second-hand furniture… – it’s cheaper, has character and makes for a more eco-friendly buy than a brand new piece. Where to start? Try your local charity shop or salvage yard for bigger buys, such as fire surrounds and bathroom fittings.

  1. I have bought a one bed Victorian flat with single glazed sash windows.I would like to double glaze them to retain heat and reduce noise. Would it be possible to do, would it be expensive and how would I find a glazier that could supply and fit the windows?
