It may seem harsh, but look closely at repossessions - they are a growing area of the market, and there are some bargains to be had. ‘Distressed’ sellers, or those who need to sell quickly for one reason or another, will also potentially offer large discounts. Be prepared to negotiate. Also try property auctions although you will have to pay a 10 per cent deposit immediately after a successful bid and be in the position to pay the remainder within 28 days.
