There’s no denying these floating homes look fantastic but is life inside all it’s cracked up to be?
Roy Lubek, who owns this floating house, tells us why he prefers his over a traditional house boat.
“A traditional houseboat is more or a less a box with internal walls - small, cramped,” he explains.
"The big difference with our house is that it’s modern contemporary. It is stable, because it has a concrete box underneath the water level. When it’s very stormy it sometimes rocks but a little, but not much.”
But the floating foundation doesn’t just keep the house steady. Because it’s hollow it acts just like a cellar and makes a great living space - as long as you don’t mind being a sub-mariner. When you're in the foundation, you’re underwater from waist-level down, but it doesn’t feel enclosed.
Part of the design includes as many windows as possible, just to enjoy every minute of living on water.
