There's a curious truth in architecture that the worse the conditions of the project, the more beautiful the solution.
Here's the finished product - a magical house whose main living space lies below ground, but which is filled with reflected natural sunlight.
Here Tim had some really difficult conditions. He could build a house only of a certain size, he could only go so high. He faced a barrage of opposition.
And yet his solution works with all the chutzpah and brilliance of a really well-performed magic trick. In planning terms, in architectural terms; in terms of just how they got this thing built, this project is a triumph over adversity.
