Phone, television, internet – these inventions have had an incalculable effect on our lives. And now technology is moving on so fast that it can be hard to keep up. At Grand Designs Live London visitors will be able to see the latest gadgets and futuristic building materials, and even see prototypes of innovations not yet released for public use – things that we could be taking for granted five or even ten years from now.
Live Cooking Demonstrations
Leading kitchens designers are showcasing their latest ranges at Grand Designs Live London, and there will be three working kitchens where top chefs will be giving live cookery demonstrations to visitors.
Living Off the Land
Buying locally-sourced fruit and vegetables is a great way of helping to reduce your carbon consumption – and nothing could generate fewer air miles than produce grown in your own garden. At Grand Designs Live London visitors will learn how to grow seasonal vegetables and fruits all year round.
Future Forests
Visitors to Grand Designs Live London will be asked to make a pledge to reduce the impact they make on the planet – even something simple like stopping using plastic bags or turning off the tap while cleaning teeth will do. For every pledge a tree will be planted, and the visitor will be given a packet of seeds which they can take away to plant their own future forest.
Information Hub
Experts from a plethora of different disciplines will be on hand to advise members of the public on their self-build projects at the exhibition, including architects, chartered surveyors, planners, project managers, financial experts, kitchen and bathroom designers and restoration experts.
Seminars
There will be five seminars every day for the nine days of the show, covering a massive range of self-building, eco, technology, gardening and design issues.
