The plan is to build three million new homes in just over a decade. The official line is that the housing crisis will then be solved, but first they’ve got to find somewhere to put them.
Near Stratford-Upon-Avon, in the villages of Upper Quinton and Lower Quinton, there are plans for a new 6,000 home town on an old MoD site. If the plans are approved, the new town will have impeccable green credentials – an eco town of low energy, sustainable housing stock. These plans have been met with fierce opposition from local residents, whose main concerns centre around the potential overwhelming of roads, rail links and other critical infrastructure.
